A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MRS. COLETTE MURRAY SWANN OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON BEING NAMED THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S 2002 EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR (HEADQUARTERS), AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS IN HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Mrs. Colette Murray Swann is the daughter of James and Delores Murray; and

Whereas, she is the devoted wife of Paul Swann, both are faithful members of Brookland Baptist Church, and she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; and

Whereas, Mrs. Swann received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from South Carolina State University; and

Whereas, from January 1987, through January 1998, she worked for the South Carolina House of Representatives serving during the tenures of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Robert J. Sheheen and our current Speaker, David H. Wilkins; and

Whereas, since January 1998, she has been employed with the South Carolina Department of Transportation and currently serves as the Community Outreach and Highway Safety Programs Manager where she has had many responsibilities including: the development and coordination of the department's Highways or Dieways public service announcements; spokesperson for the Smooth Operator public service announcements which aired state-wide from 1999-2002; coordinating news conferences, media events, and developing news releases that promote travel safety; and developing and coordinating public education and awareness campaigns related to the department's safety programs; and

Whereas, it has come to the attention of the members of the General Assembly that because of her dedicated service to the South Carolina Department of Transportation and the people of the Palmetto State, Mrs. Swann has been named the department's headquarters employee of the year. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly by this resolution congratulate Mrs. Colette Murray Swann of Richland County on being named the South Carolina Department of Transportation's 2002 Employee of the Year (Headquarters), and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Colette Murray Swann.
