A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE HEMINGWAY HIGH SCHOOL "TIGERS" BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE 2003 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND TEAMWORK IT TOOK TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM, AND TO WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS IN THEIR ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC CAREERS AND IN ALL OF THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, on Saturday, March 8, 2003, the Hemingway "Tigers" defeated the Great Falls "Red Devils" seventy to sixty-eight in a thrilling last second finish that left the crowd on their feet; and

Whereas, the "Tigers" had another outstanding season with twenty-five wins and three losses. Hemingway won the Class AA State Title in 1998 and 1999 and was able to put a championship team together to capture the Class A 2003 State Title; and

Whereas, Travis Taylor scored the winning basket for Hemingway in the final seconds by converting a blocked shot into a lay-up with three seconds remaining on the game clock. He led the team with twenty-one points and scored eighteen points in the second half to secure the "Tigers" victory; and

Whereas, the Hemingway High School Basketball Team was ably trained and led by Coach Jerry Harwell who instilled the competitive spirit and teamwork it took for the "Tigers" to become state champions for the third time. Coach Harwell was assisted by Anderson Wilson, Dottie Powell, Lawrence Olesky, and Tariq Thomas; and

Whereas, the Hemingway High School Boys' Basketball Championship Team is comprised of: Freddie Johnson, Bryant Julious, Terel Porchia, Sterling Blunt, Josh Flegler, Andre Gladden, Arkelious Adams, Tony Nesmith, Rahiim Crosby, Marquise Samuels, Patrick Lewis, Travis Taylor, and Josh Dollard; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud of the spirit and accomplishments of the 2003 Hemingway High School "Tigers" Boys' Basketball Team and take this opportunity to congratulate and commend them for their championship performance. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Hemingway High School "Tigers" Boys' Basketball Team on winning the 2003 Class A State Championship, commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and teamwork it took to become a championship team, and wish them every success in their academic and athletic careers and in all of their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Hemingway High School "Tigers" Boys' Basketball Team.
