A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO DR. J. FRANK BAKER OF SUMTER ON RECEIVING THE AWARD OF ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR ON MARCH 22, 2003.

Whereas, both teachers and administrators are essential in delivering the best quality of education to our young people, and they must work diligently to provide a structured and challenging school curriculum to all students; and

Whereas, it is with great pride that we are able to recognize one of this state's finest school administrators for his hard work and commitment to improving his own district's schools, as well as the public education system in general; and

Whereas, Dr. J. Frank Baker of Sumter has been involved with education for over thirty years, beginning as a teacher in 1971 in Sumter School District 2, and then taking on more administrative duties including Deputy Superintendent of Personnel and Director of Guidance Services and Counseling; and

Whereas, since 1992, Dr. Baker has served the residents of his community as the Superintendent of Sumter County School District 2, concerning himself with the welfare of both the staff and the students and making considerable strides in improving the district's financial situation; and

Whereas, because of his dedication to excellence and his supportive nature, he was nominated by the Association of Educational Office Professionals of Sumter County and then chosen by the South Carolina Association of Educational Office Professionals to receive the award of Administrator of the Year; and

Whereas, Dr. Baker is an invaluable asset to Sumter County and the State of South Carolina and we are pleased to be able to recognize him for his work in this most honorable profession. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, extend our congratulations to Dr. J. Frank Baker of Sumter on receiving the award of Administrator of the Year on March 22, 2003.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. J. Frank Baker of Sumter.
