A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO ASHLEY NICOLE AMERSON, CAMERON LAYNE HOLDER, JESSICA LEIGH THOMAS, KAREN COOK, JESSICA NEWMAN, SHANNON EILEEN CLEARY, ERIN REBECCA SMITH, ELIZABETH HUPFER, AND MEREDITH GARDNER REAVES FOR THEIR DILIGENCE AND DEDICATION AS GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PEE DEE AREA AND FOR RECEIVING THE HIGHEST AWARD GIVEN IN GIRL SCOUTING, THE GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize young people in this State who are dedicated to giving their time and energy to working to better their communities and to become the future leaders of the State of South Carolina and the nation; and

Whereas, Girl Scouts across this country are held in high regard and are taught the importance of academics and personal growth from trained professionals and volunteers who are dedicated to being positive role models for today's youth; and

Whereas, the highest award that a Girl Scout can achieve is the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this most prestigious award has been given to the following young women of the Girl Scouts of the Pee Dee Area: Ashley Nicole Amerson, Cameron Layne Holder, Jessica Leigh Thomas, Karen Cook, Jessica Newman, Shannon Eileen Cleary, Erin Rebecca Smith, Elizabeth Hupfer, and Meredith Gardner Reaves; and

Whereas, these young women will receive their Girl Scout Gold Awards on May 8, 2003, at a ceremony and dinner in Florence, honoring their achievements; and

Whereas, through the Girl Scouts of the Pee Dee Area, these individuals have been able to gain invaluable knowledge and experience which have helped to shape them into responsible, competent, and caring young people; and

Whereas, the leaders of the Girl Scouts of the Pee Dee Area also deserve recognition and praise for their dedication and hard word to girl scouting, contributing immeasurable to the lives of countless young women. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to Ashley Nicole Amerson, Cameron Layne Holder, Jessica Leigh Thomas, Karen Cook, Jessica Newman, Shannon Eileen Cleary, Erin Rebecca Smith, Elizabeth Hupfer, and Meredith Gardner Reaves for their diligence and dedication as the Girl Scouts of the Pee Dee Area and for receiving the highest award given in girl scouting, the Girl Scout Gold Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the Girl Scout Council of the Pee Dee Area and to Ashley Nicole Amerson, Cameron Layne Holder, Jessica Leigh Thomas, Karen Cook, Jessica Newman, Shannon Eileen Cleary, Erin Rebecca Smith, Elizabeth Hupfer, and Meredith Gardner Reaves of the Girl Scouts of the Pee Dee Area.
