A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO MR. JERRY PACE OF BRITTON'S NECK, SOUTH CAROLINA, UPON RECEIVING THE 2003 NATIONAL OUTSTANDING YOUNG FARMER ADVISOR AWARD FROM THE NATIONAL YOUNG FARMER EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION.

Whereas, educating South Carolina's young people in all areas of interest, including agricultural techniques and economics, is of utmost importance to this General Assembly and to the citizens of this State; and

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the great achievements of those incredible individuals who have dedicated their lives to aiding young people in learning about agricultural engineering and to improving South Carolina's farming industry; and

Whereas, Mr. Jerry Pace of Britton's Neck graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education and a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics; and

Whereas, Mr. Pace has been an agricultural education teacher since 1974, beginning his career at Britton's Neck High School, remaining there until 2002, and recently transferring to teach at Creek Bridge High School in Britton's Neck; and

Whereas, he has also generously contributed his knowledge and time as an advisor of the Britton's Neck Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter since 1974 and served on the 1995 Planning Committee for the National Young Farmer Institute; and

Whereas, most recently, the National Young Farmer Educational Association, a group organized to provide consistent and efficient coordination of agricultural education programs, presented Mr. Pace with the 2003 National Outstanding Young Farmer Advisor Award for his leadership and innovativeness in aiding young people in learning the business of farming. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives extend their congratulations to Mr. Jerry Pace of Britton's Neck upon receiving the 2003 National Outstanding Young Farmer Advisor Award from the National Young Farmer Educational Association.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Jerry Pace of Britton's Neck, South Carolina.
