A BILL

TO PROVIDE THAT EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2003, DISTRIBUTIONS DUE CHARLESTON COUNTY FROM THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT FUND ($14,120,593 FOR FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003) PURSUANT TO THE STATE AID TO SUBDIVISIONS ACT ARE INSTEAD DISTRIBUTED TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF CHARLESTON COUNTY WHICH MUST USE THESE FUNDS TO ROLLBACK PROPERTY TAXES FOR SCHOOLS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Notwithstanding any other provision of law, effective July 1, 2003, funds otherwise due Charleston County from the Local Government Fund pursuant to the State Aid to Subdivisions Act ($14,120,593 in fiscal year 2002-2003) is instead distributed to the School District of Charleston County which must use these funds to rollback property taxes for schools.

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
