A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE BOARDS OF TRUSTEES OF THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AUTHORITY IN ITS IMPORTANT ENDEAVOR TO REPLACE THE HOSPITAL FACILITIES AT THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY.

Whereas, the primary teaching hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina is almost fifty years old and is in need of replacement; and

Whereas, the hospital is critical to the educational and service mission of the Medical University and to the health of citizens of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the Medical University Hospital Authority has planned a phased replacement of its hospital building; and

Whereas, the first phase of the project is proposed to be financed through the sale of hospital revenue bonds which will be insured by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the South Carolina General Assembly encourages and supports the Boards of Trustees of the Medical University of South Carolina and the Medical University Hospital Authority in its important endeavor to replace the hospital facilities at the University.
