A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND COMMEND THE PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL "PANTHERS" BOYS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM AND HEAD COACH JASON BIRCHWOOD ON WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO WISH THEM CONTINUED SUCCESS IN ALL THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are proud to recognize the Pinewood Preparatory School Boys Varsity Soccer Team on winning the 2004 SCISA Class AAA State Championship held at Heathwood Hall on Saturday, May 15, 2004; and

Whereas, undefeated in SCISA play with a ten-game winning streak during the season and a 3-0 record in the state playoffs, the Panthers compiled an impressive record of 20-5-1 during the regular season outscoring their opponents by a total of 117-29 during the year; and

Whereas, in the playoffs, this group of talented young athletes outscored their three opponents 16-1; defeating Hammond by a score of 5-0, Cardinal Newman by a score of 3-0, and Ben Lippen by a score of 8-1 to capture the state championship title; and

Whereas, the Panthers, having made it to the big dance, would accept no less than victory when it took on the Ben Lippen Falcons. The Panthers monopolized the game early attacking relentlessly in the opening forty minutes to build a 5-0 lead en route to utter dominance over the Falcons; and

Whereas, building a championship team requires the skill, hard work, and determination of not just the players but the coaches as well. Panthers Head Coach Jason Birchwood, along with Assistant Coaches P. J. Bogensberger and Winston Helms, mobilized the players and enabled them to so aptly utilize the tools they innately possess and the skills they have developed over the years to emerge victorious in the championship game; and

Whereas, the members of this outstanding 2004 championship team are: Olav Bua, Tyler Hawes, Roger Kodrzycki, Casper Langhoff, Jose Moreno, Wayne Pavlischek, Brett Rashtchian, Lawrence Reed, Boris Braeuning, Sean Durrenberger, Dale Hitchcock, Tim Hanna, Ben Stroud, Pierce Wehman, Elliot Hitchcock, J. D. Spearman, and Ray Ferro; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to pause to honor the Pinewood Preparatory School Boys Varsity Soccer Team for its perseverance and athletic abilities and talent. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and commend the Pinewood Preparatory School "Panthers" Boys Varsity Soccer Team and Head Coach Jason Birchwood on winning the South Carolina Independent Schools Association Class AAA State Championship and wish them continued success in all their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Jason Birchwood on behalf of the Pinewood Preparatory School Boys Varsity Soccer Team.
