VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO COMMEMORATE DR. FRED DUCEY, JR. FOR HIS FIFTY-FOUR YEARS OF SERVICE AS A VETERINARIAN IN RIDGELAND AND JASPER COUNTY, AND TO RECOGNIZE HIM FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIS COMMUNITY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, a graduate of the first veterinary class at the University of Georgia Veterinarian School, Dr. Fred Ducey, Jr. has been a comfort to the animals and citizens of Jasper County and the surrounding area for fifty-four years; and
Whereas, when Dr. Ducey came to Ridgeland in 1950, he was the only animal doctor in Jasper, Beaufort, and Hampton Counties; and
Whereas, his contributions to his community extend far beyond veterinary medicine; Dr. Ducey was mayor of Ridgeland for eight years on the early 1960's; and
Whereas, through Little League, Pony League, and Pee Wee and Midget Football, Dr. Ducey had dedicated his entire adult life to teaching athletic skills, a sense of fair play, common decency, and Christian values to the youngsters of the Town of Ridgeland, and he is responsible for creating the local Dixie Youth Baseball League; and
Whereas, Dr. Ducey also served in the United States Army Air Corps after graduating from Savannah High School and volunteered for B-29 duty until discharged in 1945; and
Whereas, Dr. Ducey married the former Margaret Anderson in June of 1947, and they have four children, Fred III, Tommy, Barbara Ann, and Pat; and
Whereas, it is with appreciation for his commitment to bettering his community and his dedication to veterinary medicine that the members of the House of Representatives recognize Dr. Fred Ducey, Jr. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commemorate Dr. Fred Ducey, Jr. for his fifty-four years of service as a veterinarian in Ridgeland and Jasper County, and recognize him for his outstanding contributions to his community and the State of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Fred Ducey, Jr. of Ridgeland.
