A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE D. W. DANIEL HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' SOCCER TEAM AND THE TEAM'S COACH, TOMMY BOLGER, OF CENTRAL, SOUTH CAROLINA, IN PICKENS COUNTY, ON THEIR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE, DEDICATION, AND DETERMINATION THROUGHOUT THEIR INCREDIBLE SEASON AND ON CAPTURING THE 2003 CLASS AAA BOYS' SOCCER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE ON SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2003.

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize young athletes who excel in individual and team sports and whose skills lead their schools to championship titles; and

Whereas, to become soccer champions, every member of the team and the coaching staff must have special leadership skills and athletic abilities; and

Whereas, using those talents, Coach Tommy Bolger and the members of the D. W. Daniel High School Boys' Soccer Team of Central, South Carolina, played challenging games throughout their season with dogged determination and extraordinary teamwork to become the best soccer team in their division; and

Whereas, Coach Bolger began rigorously training the team in January in order to develop a group of young men that was committed to winning and working hard to achieve their goals; and

Whereas, the D. W. Daniel High School Boys' Soccer Team met tough opponents, including J. L. Mann High School and Greenville High School in the Upper State division, but the team played its most important game of the season when it faced Myrtle Beach High School for the State Championship on May, 17, 2003, at Memorial Stadium in Columbia; and

Whereas, with every team members' commitment, concentration, and well honed skills and with the outstanding guidance of Coach Bolger, the D. W. Daniel High School Boys' Soccer Team defeated Myrtle Beach High School by a score of 4-1 and became the 2003 Class AAA Boys' Soccer State Champions; and

Whereas, the members of this exceptional team are Chris Baird, Britt Barker, Brandon Blake, Kingsley Botchway, Michael Cotton, Kent Ellison, Drew Fuzy, Mitch Fuzy, Brian Hill, Evan Kaiser, Marcus Killermann-Leach, Victor Nikolovski, Patrick Pettigrew, Taylor Rowe, Brian Schmidt, Patrick Schwedler, Spence Smith, Mark Tolan, and Ben Wright; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize the physical and mental abilities of these young South Carolinians and wish these athletes much success in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the D. W. Daniel High School Boys' Soccer Team and the team's coach, Tommy Bolger, of Central, South Carolina, in Pickens County, on their outstanding performance, dedication, and determination throughout their incredible season and on capturing the 2003 Class AAA Boys' Soccer State Championship Title on Saturday, May 17, 2003.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the D. W. Daniel High School Boys' Soccer Team and Coach Tommy Bolger of Central.
