A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 50-11-565, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE USE OF CROSSBOW WHILE HUNTING, SO AS TO FURTHER PROVIDE THAT IT IS NOT UNLAWFUL FOR A PERSON SIXTY-TWO YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO USE A CROSSBOW TO HUNT DURING SEASONS WHEN THE USE OF PRIMITIVE WEAPONS ARE AUTHORIZED FOR HUNTING.

Amend Title To Conform

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 50-11-565 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 347 of 1998, is amended by adding:

"(D)    Notwithstanding this section or another provision of law, it is not unlawful for a person sixty-two years of age or older to use a crossbow to hunt during seasons when the use of archery only is authorized for hunting."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
