TO CONGRATULATE THE MEMBERS OF THE 1953 GRADUATING CLASS OF LANGLEY-BATH-CLEARWATER HIGH SCHOOL ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR FIFTIETH CLASS REUNION AND TO COMMEND ITS MEMBERS FOR THEIR MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR COMMUNITY AND STATE.
Whereas, the original Langley-Bath High School was established in 1952 in Burnettown, South Carolina, and eventually became the Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School; and
Whereas, in 1952, the school district of Aiken County, with substantial assistance from United Merchants and Manufacturers, constructed a new state-of-the-art educational facility in Bath; and
Whereas, A. J. Rutland was the Aiken County Superintendent of Education and John Reeves was the Langley-Bath-Clearwater Area Four Superintendent who undertook essential leadership roles in the new school; and
Whereas, L. B. Earle served as the first principal and L. L. Willis served as the first assistant principal of the new Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School, and successfully managed the day-to-day operations of the new school; and
Whereas, the class motto for the new school was "He who does his best does well." The class graduated on June 5, 1953, and the thirty-eight members of the Class of 1953 have gone on to lead productive and exemplary lives; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to recognize the 1953 class of this outstanding school on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the members of the 1953 graduating class of Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School on the occasion of their fiftieth class reunion and commend them for their many accomplishments and contributions to their community and State.
Be it further resolved that a photocopy of this resolution be given to each living member of the graduating class of 1953 attending the fiftieth class reunion on June 7, 2003.
