TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 44-55-130 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM WITH A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER ON STAFF AND WHICH HAS A GENERAL CONSTRUCTION PERMIT MAY CONSTRUCT A LINE EXTENSION THAT SERVES OR MAY SERVE MORE THAN ONE CONSUMER.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 55, Title 44 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 44-55-130. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a public water system, as defined in Regulation 61-58, which has a professional engineer on staff and which has a current general construction permit may construct a line extension that serves, or in the future may serve, more than one consumer."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
