A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE MEMBERS, COACHES, AND STAFF OF THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL SAT TEAM FOR WINNING THE CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ON MARCH 12, 2003, AND TO WISH THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the gifted and intelligent students from Chapin High School won the SAT test-taking competition sponsored by the State Department of Education on Wednesday, March 12, 2003; and

Whereas, schools of similar size compete against each other by taking an abbreviated version of the college entrance exam, and the winning schools and individual competitors receive medals; and

Whereas, this marks the fifth year of the rigorous competition and the second consecutive year that the Class AA State Title has been taken home by Chapin High School, who has been in the finals each year of the competition; and

Whereas, members of the winning Chapin High School Team were Amanda Young, Caroline Nelson, Derek Swindall, Brandon Bilinski, Kyle Epting, Amy Dix, Brandon Blue, Ashley Polasek, Jad Taylor, Staci Kubik, Jean Whyte, Ashlyn Murphy, Susie Baker, Emily Sheldon, Brandon Gerrald, Lawrence Craft, Austin Ray, Michael Shear, Jennifer Byrne, Joe Gillespie, Keith Hernandez, Casey Washington, and Joseph Stewart. These bright students were led by coaches Jack LeGrand, W.F. Sullivan, and Millie See; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are proud to recognize the Chapin High School SAT Team for their outstanding accomplishment. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the members, coaches, and staff of the Chapin High School SAT Team for winning the Class AA State Championship on March 12, 2003, and wish them much success in their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Chapin High School SAT Team.
