A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO HAZEL JOHNSON DANIELS SANDERS OF AIKEN COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2003, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED GOOD HEALTH AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE YEARS TO COME.

Whereas, birthdays are joyous occasions to be shared with one's family and friends, and the members of the House of Representatives are honored to recognize this very special day on which Hazel Johnson Daniels Sanders will celebrate eighty years of a full and wonderful life; and

Whereas, Mrs. Sanders was born on December 8, 1923, to Tom and Kate Johnson of Aiken County, where she has resided throughout her life; and

Whereas, Mrs. Sanders became the devoted wife of Walter Daniels in 1938, and born to this union was their beloved daughter, Betty Jean Daniels Cain, Mrs. Sanders' cherished only child; and

Whereas, following Mr. Daniels death, Hazel Johnson Daniels and Walter A. Sanders were joined in marriage in 1952. In their life together, and until Mr. Sanders' death, they enjoyed a long and loving marriage; and

Whereas, Mrs. Sanders has two grandchildren, Darrell and Danny Cain, the children of Mrs. Sanders' daughter and her son-in-law Buddy Cain, and three great-grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, and Deidre Cain, who bring great happiness to her life; and

Whereas, Mrs. Sanders' birthday is made all the more special by celebrating this joyous occasion with her siblings. Mrs. Sanders is blessed to have four living brothers: J. D. Johnson, Franklin Johnson, Hughy Johnson, and Roy Johnson and two sisters: Geraldine Reschel and Rachel Heffintroyer; and

Whereas, Mrs. Sanders has dedicated her life to caring for her family and providing a home warmed by her good southern cooking, her gentle care, and her loving ways; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations to recognize this milestone in the life of such a beloved daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their congratulations to Hazel Johnson Daniels Sanders on the occasion of her eightieth birthday on Monday, December 8, 2003, and wish her continued good health and much happiness in the years to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Hazel Johnson Daniels Sanders of Aiken County.
