A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

APPLAUDING THE CHOICE OF COLUMBIA MAYOR ROBERT D. (BOB) COBLE BY THE GREATER COLUMBIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS THE 2004 AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR, AND JOINING IN THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE AND EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR HIS VISIONARY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, RICHLAND COUNTY, AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the Honorable Robert D. (Bob) Coble was elected Mayor of the City of Columbia in 1990, and during that tenure of service has encouraged economic development in the city and spearheaded Columbia's renaissance; and

Whereas, his efforts have been directed not only to city revitalization and growth projects like Main Street, the Vista, and the Columbia Convention Center, but also to the development of the city as a technological hub; and

Whereas, his visionary focus has provided greatly enhanced conditions for making a home, operating a business, and educating a generation in the City of Columbia; and

Whereas, Mayor Coble's enthusiastic and energetic agenda for creating jobs, neighborhood empowerment, economic development, and technological advancement was recognized April 16, 2004, by the city's most influential business and community leaders; and

Whereas, those like-minded citizens named Mayor Robert D. (Bob) Coble their 2004 Ambassador of the year, in honor of his unflagging support of exciting change. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, applaud the choice of Columbia Mayor Robert D. (Bob) Coble by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce as the 2004 Ambassador of the Year, and join in the opportunity to recognize and express appreciation for his visionary contributions to the City of Columbia, Richland County and the State of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable Robert D. Coble.
