A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SINCERE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE UPON THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE MARVIN G. DODSON OF EASLEY, SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO CONVEY THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened by the death of The Honorable Marvin Gardell Dodson of Easley, South Carolina, who passed away on Monday, April 3, 2006; and

Whereas, Mr. Dodson was born in 1946 in Pickens County to the late Mr. Ernest Robert and Essie Gilstrap Dodson, and was a graduate of Parker High School; and

Whereas, after twenty-seven years of service, Mr. Dodson retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol; and

Whereas, Mr. Dodson was a third-term councilman with the City of Easley, serving as Mayor Pro Tempore; and

Whereas, he was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a state constable; and

Whereas, active not only in the community, but within his church, Mr. Dodson was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church; and

Whereas, Mr. Dodson is survived by his wife, Libby Brown Dodson; two sons, Mike and Gregg Dodson; a daughter, Traci Wilson; a stepdaughter, Dawn Rampey; and three grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate would like the Dodson family to know that their thoughts and prayers are with them in this time of sorrow. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, express their sincere sorrow upon the death of The Honorable Marvin Dodson, and wish to convey the deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Libby Brown Dodson.
