A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR TREY BOLDING OF LEXINGTON COUNTY FOR BEING SELECTED BY THE ARTS COMMISSION CONSULTANT FOR VSA ACCESSIBILITY IN THE ARTS AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR ALL THE ARTWORK HE HAS CREATED AND AWARDS HE HAS WON WHILE COURAGEOUSLY BATTLING HEMOPHILIA.

Whereas, as a bright young fifteen year old student in the ninth grade at Airport High School, Trey Bolding is truly an amazing artist with remarkable talent; and

Whereas, Trey has a blood disorder known as hemophilia, yet he has not allowed this condition to hold him back in any manner; and

Whereas, on several occasions, Trey has been recognized for his beautiful artwork and has won many awards throughout the State; and

Whereas, a number of his priceless pieces of art were displayed last year at EdVenture children's museum in the Palmetto Richland Children of Hope Art Exhibit for Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders; and

Whereas, Trey has been selected by the Arts Commission Consultant for VSA Accessibility in the Arts and has been chosen to go to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Very Special Arts Exhibit: "A View from my Window" to be held in June, 2006; and

Whereas, he was recognized by Caremark Pharmaceuticals as a young man who is a role model for children with blood disorders; and

Whereas, Trey attended the Kyle Petty's Victory Junction Camp for Kids last year and plans to return this summer; and

Whereas, Trey's tremendous talents are not just limited to artwork for he is also a member of one of West Columbia's competitive youth bowling leagues; and

Whereas, his constant positive attitude on life and his extraordinary confidence in himself has given Trey the opportunity to achieve and accomplish so much despite his condition; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate takes great pride in honoring such an individual whose courage and admiration has helped him to overcome his condition and succeed in various ways by using his astonishing natural talents and abilities. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Trey Bolding of Lexington County for being selected by the Arts Commission Consultant for VSA Accessibility in the Arts and commend him for all the artwork he has created and awards he has won while courageously battling hemophilia.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Trey Bolding.
