A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE ROCK HILL HIGH SCHOOL BEARCATS OF YORK COUNTY ON THEIR 2004 STATE AAAA BIG 16 FOOTBALL TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE OUTSTANDING PLAYERS AND COACH JIM RINGER ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE SEASON.

Whereas, the Rock Hill High School Bearcats of York County capped their outstanding 2004 football season by taking the AAAA Big 16 State Title; and

Whereas, with an incredible season of thirteen wins and only one loss, the Bearcats finished strong with a 21-7 State Title victory over the Stratford High School Knights of Goose Creek in a physical contest at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, December 4, 2004; and

Whereas, the hard-fought victory was truly a team effort on both sides of the football; and

Whereas, the Bearcats set the tone for the game on Stratford's second possession when they rushed the Stratford quarterback to force a throw deep in Stratford territory, which was tipped and returned for a five-yard touchdown run; and

Whereas, the incredibly quick Rock Hill defense forced three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns, and recovered two fumbles; and

Whereas, the Bearcats' offense piled up two hundred and twelve yards rushing behind an overpowering cast of linemen; and

Whereas, this outstanding finish for the 2004 team, Rock Hill's second State Championship Title in four years, signifies that coach Jim Ringer's Bearcats are truly a power in Big 16 Football. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved, by the members of the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Rock Hill High School Bearcats of York County on their 2004 State AAAA Big 16 Football Title, and honor the players and Coach Jim Ringer on their impressive season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Rock Hill High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Jim Ringer on behalf of the championship team.
