A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 4-9-200 SO AS TO REQUIRE COUNTY ASSESSORS BE ELECTED AT THE TIME OF THE GENERAL ELECTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 9, Title 4 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 4-9-200. All county assessors must be elected at the time of the general election for a term of four years until their successors are elected and qualify."

SECTION    2.    This act is effective with the election of all county assessors at the general election of 2006.

SECTION    3.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
