A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE COURTNEY ROBERTSON FOR BEING CHOSEN AS THE CLINTON CHRONICLE'S 2005 TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, Mrs. Courtney Robertson, a Clemson graduate, began her teaching career as a preschool teacher in Cheraw, before becoming a kindergarten teacher in her current home of Laurens; and

Whereas, in the ten years since she joined the Laurens Academy faculty, Mrs. Robertson has moved through the grade levels, most recently finding use for her degree in biological science as one of the upper-grade's science teachers; and

Whereas, in addition to her wealth of knowledge in science and her amazing ability to share it with her students, Mrs. Robertson has all the other qualities necessary in an outstanding teacher; and

Whereas, Laurens Academy Headmaster Todd Kirk says of her, "Courtney's very committed as a worker. One of the things that seems to give her energy is to come to this school. She has a wonderful connection with the students here. No matter what the age, she seems to connect with the kids as well as anybody I've ever seen"; and

Whereas, Mrs. Robertson sums up her love of teaching: "I enjoy seeing the kids from the get-go, and then being on stage at graduation, seeing them walk across it, and knowing I had something to do with it"; and

Whereas, Mrs. Robertson's dedicated teaching is appreciated by students, parents, and fellow teachers. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor the Clinton Chronicle's 2005 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Courtney Robertson.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Courtney Robertson.
