VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND SECTION 40-13-250, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO ANNUAL RENEWAL OF COSMETOLOGISTS' LICENSES AND THE REQUIREMENT THAT APPLICANTS COMPLETE CERTAIN CONTINUING EDUCATION, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A COSMETOLOGIST MAY RECEIVE UP TO THREE HOURS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS FOR VERIFIED ATTENDANCE AT A COSMETOLOGY-RELATED TRADE SHOW.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 40-13-250(A) of the 1976 Code, as amended by Act 222 of 2000, is further amended to read:
"(A)(1) The holder of an individual license issued by the board biennially, on such a date as may be designated by the board, shall renew his or her license and pay the renewal fee and furnish proof to the board that he or she has completed continuing education approved by the board.
(2) A cosmetologist may receive up to three hours of continuing education credits for renewal of his or her cosmetologist license by providing to the board his or her verified attendance at a cosmetology-related trade show, which may be nongeneric in nature including, but not limited to, an educational program that teaches a system, a method, or a product."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
