A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR REVEREND JACKIE ERNEST ONEAL, PASTOR OF HOLDEN CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH, FOR HIS FAITHFUL SERVICE TO HIS CONGREGATION AND COMMITMENT TO HIS COMMUNITY, AND TO WISH HIM THE BEST IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Reverend Jackie Ernest Oneal, beloved pastor, spiritual leader, and friend, has spent more than twenty years inspiring the congregations of Meadow Fork Baptist Church, Moore's Chapel Baptist Church, and Holden Chapel Baptist Church; and

Whereas, Reverend Oneal has spearheaded many projects and program expansions in his churches. At Moore's Chapel Baptist Church, he saw to the creation of a baptismal pool and new sanctuary choir, as well as the purchase of a new church bus and a heating and air conditioning system. At Holden Chapel Baptist Church, he saw to the purchase of a new organ, piano, bibles, and hymnals and started new ministries with Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, Teen Lets Rap Group, and a children's church and ministry; and

Whereas, his exemplary leadership and motivational skills have greatly aided his parishioners in furthering their church communities, and their undertaking these projects and program expansions have led to an overwhelming amount of growth among the congregations he has touched; and

Whereas, possessing a special gift for music ministry, Mr. Oneal, while still a layman, organized the Meadow Fork All Male Choir over which he served as President until he was called into the ministry. He also organized the first Brotherhood Auxiliary at Meadow Fork Baptist Church; and

Whereas, sharing his message at numerous revivals throughout Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson counties and various locations across the country, Reverend Oneal has led countless individuals to finding and reclaiming their faith; and

Whereas, both before and during his time as a pastor, Reverend Oneal worked at Duke Power as a Commodities Service Technician. He also has worked at Gower Manufacturing, Pearce-Young-Angel, Michelin Tire Company, and Gayley Mill; and

Whereas, constantly willing to put the needs of others before his own, Reverend Oneal gives of his time and energy to numerous faith-based organizations, including the Spartanburg County Baptist Association, the E&M Baptist Convention of South Carolina, and the Interdenominational Ministers Alliance of Greer; and

Whereas, Reverend Oneal's dedication to his congregations and his commitment to the community has been recognized by many. He was appointed to the University of South Carolina Spartanburg Minority Advisory Board in 1997, and in that same year became Vice President of the East Spartanburg Branch of the NAACP; and

Whereas, an extraordinary visionary, Reverend Oneal has led his congregations and communities to new heights, and it is with great pleasure that the members of the House of Representatives laud him for all the good that he has done in the lives of his individual congregants and for the State of South Carolina as a whole. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Reverend Jackie Ernest Oneal, Pastor of Holden Baptist Church, for his faithful service to his congregation and his commitment to his community, and wish him all the best in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Reverend Jackie Ernest Oneal.
