A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE SILVER SPIRIT MARCHING BAND OF SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA BAND DIRECTOR'S ASSOCIATION 2005 CLASS AA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that the Silver Spirit Marching Band of Silver Bluff High School won not only the 2005 South Carolina Band Director's Association Class AA Lower State Marching Band Championship but also the 2005 South Carolina Band Director's Association Class AA State Marching Band Championship; and

Whereas, under the able leadership of Band Director Kevin Piner, and assistant directors Randy Hood and Bonnie McNeill, the Silver Spirit Marching Band has entertained South Carolinians in Aiken and all over the State not only at sporting events but at a number of concerts and festivals; and

Whereas, the Silver Spirit Marching Band is a volunteer organization comprised of students, parents, directors, and staff. Their season begins in the middle of July with band camp and concludes with state finals in October; and

Whereas, the 2005 state title is another in a long list of honors for the Silver Spirit including the 1997 and 1998 state championship titles; and

Whereas, the accomplishments of this talented group of students this year has brought deserved credit not only upon themselves and their school but upon their State and county as well. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the Silver Spirit Marching Band of Silver Bluff High School for winning the South Carolina Band Director's Association 2005 Class AA State Marching Band Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Band Director Kevin Piner.
