A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S MOST OUTSTANDING AND VALUABLE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, ARLIE "DON" TINSLEY OF GREENVILLE, FOR HIS EXEMPLARY LAW ENFORCEMENT CAREER, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Arlie "Don" Tinsley of Greenville is retiring after serving the State of South Carolina for the past thirty-three years as a law enforcement officer; and

Whereas, the son of a lieutenant of the Greenville Police Department, law enforcement was Don Tinsley's destiny; and

Whereas, Officer Tinsley began his career in law enforcement on February 6, 1972, as a member of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, where he valiantly served until June 30, 1993; and

Whereas, on July 1, 1993, Officer Tinsley joined the South Carolina Transport Police, the position from which he retired on December 31, 2005; and

Whereas, a well-respected officer, Don Tinsley has been a member of the "Governor's 20 Team", an elite group of twenty law enforcement officers who are expert pistol marksmen, for over twenty-five years, the first law enforcement officer to ever serve a tenure of that length; and

Whereas, Don Tinsley is the proud father of two wonderful daughters; and

Whereas, an esteemed member of the law enforcement community, Officer Tinsley has made the State of South Carolina a safer place, and his retirement will create a void that will not easily be filled; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives would like to publicly distinguish this truly fine South Carolinian upon the occasion of his retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend one of South Carolina's most outstanding and valuable law enforcement officers, Mr. Arlie "Don" Tinsley of Greenville, for his exemplary law enforcement career, and wish him much happiness upon his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Officer Arlie "Don" Tinsley of Greenville.
