A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MRS. NAOMI HENRIETTA GRIFFIN MCCUTCHEN OF LEE COUNTY FOR HER PATRIOTIC EFFORTS SERVING HER COUNTRY IN WORLD WAR II, CAREER LONG SERVICE TO THE NURSING PROFESSION, AND LIFE LONG SERVICE TO HER FAMILY, CHURCH, AND COMMUNITY.

Whereas, Mrs. Naomi Henrietta Griffin McCutchen is a classic model of a genuine person going above and beyond her call of civic duty to serve, protect, and nurture her fellow neighbors despite her own self interests; and

Whereas, she was born on February 21, 1916, in Paxville, South Carolina and was the oldest daughter of Charles Lawrence Griffin; and

Whereas, she had three younger brothers named Charles, Graham, and Rineheart Griffin as well as two younger sisters named Ruth Aycock and Janette McLeod; and

Whereas, Mrs. McCutchen graduated from Pinewood High School in 1933 and from the School of Nursing at Tuomey Hospital as a Registered Nurse; and

Whereas, heroically, she helped defend her country in World War II by serving as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps; and

Whereas, Mrs. McCutchen married William Gregg McCutchen in 1946 and moved to Bishopville in 1952. She joined the staff of Lee County Memorial Hospital in 1956, became Director of Nurses in the early 1960's and worked exhaustively at the Bishopville hospital for twenty years; and

Whereas, she is a member of the Bishopville Presbyterian Church, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Daughters of the American Revolution; and

Whereas, Mrs. McCutchen has been blessed with raising a large family full of love, compassion and affection for others; and

Whereas, she has two daughters, Elizabeth Simon and Martha Gray, one son, Gregg McCutchen, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations to recognize the many accomplishments of this daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Mrs. Naomi Henrietta Griffin McCutchen of Lee County for her patriotic efforts while serving her country during World War II, career long service to the nursing profession, and life long service to her family, church, and community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Naomi Henrietta Griffin McCutchen.
