VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL "GREEN WAVE" WRESTLING TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING CAPTURE OF THE 2006 AAAA STATE WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, KENNY WALKER, ON ANOTHER EXTRAORDINARY SEASON.
Whereas, no stranger to the taste of victory, the Summerville High School "Green Wave" Wrestling Team capped its outstanding season by capturing the 2006 AAAA State Wrestling Championship. The 2006 title marks the third consecutive state championship win for the wrestling team; and
Whereas, excellence in wrestling demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and
Whereas, using those talents and attributes, Coach Kenny Walker and the Summerville High School Green Wave showed both fans and foes that the last two state championship wins were no flukes, winning 25 out of 27 matches before earning the ultimate prize; and
Whereas, this state championship win is the eleventh of its kind for Summerville High School, with nine of those wins coming under the leadership of Coach Kenny Walker; and
Whereas, dominating competition during the state finals, the team was able to forfeit its last three matches and still win the championship title. The team lost only four matches that day, giving up a meager six points; and
Whereas, led by senior Bryant Blanton, the Summerville wrestlers showed great heart, determination, and discipline in pushing past opponents and securing victories that many never thought impossible; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pride in recognizing the young men of the Summerville High School Wrestling Team for their diligence and perseverance in achieving both in the classroom and on the wrestling mat, and expect to hear of great accomplishments in the seasons to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate the Summerville High School "Green Wave" Wrestling Team for its outstanding capture of the 2006 AAAA State Wrestling Championship title, and honor the players and their coach, Kenny Walker, for another extraordinary season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the players, coaches, and school officials of the Summerville High School "Green Wave" Wrestling Team.
