A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MRS. JESSIE LOU MARTIN OF GALIVANT'S FERRY UPON HER RECEIPT OF THE 2006 HORRY COUNTY RURAL LADY OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that Mrs. Jessie Lou Martin has been named the 2006 Horry County Rural Lady of the Year; and

Whereas, this wonderful lady resides in Galivant's Ferry and has made significant contributions to the farming community of Horry County over the more than fifty-four years she has been involved in farming; and

Whereas, Mrs. Martin and her husband, Eldon, operate a seven hundred fifty acre farm and have for the fifty-four years they have married; and

Whereas, she participates in nearly every phase of operations on their farm. She is involved in all aspects of planting, growing, and harvesting of the crops, and she does whatever else needs to be done on the farm; and

Whereas, Mrs. Martin loves the way of life that rural living allows and serves as an example and role model for both urban and rural ladies alike. She and her husband are blessed with three outstanding children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, she is an active member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and serves as Sunday School secretary, member of the Women's Missionary Union, and is a Vacation Bible School teacher. She is always concerned about the people in her church and community and will take extra steps to help in a time of need; and

Whereas, this lovely Christian lady is a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who truly deserves this wonderful award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Mrs. Jessie Lou Martin of Galivant's Ferry upon her receipt of the 2006 Horry County Rural Lady of the Year Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Jessie Lou Martin.
