TO CONGRATULATE THE CRESCENT HIGH SCHOOL BOYS WRESTLING TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2006 CLASS AA-A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the Crescent High School Boys Wrestling Team recently won the 2006 Class AA-A state championship completing a magnificent season in which the team compiled a 28-0 dual record; and

Whereas, the team's 2006 accomplishments in addition to the state title include being Region I AA Champions, Upper-State Dual Champions, Abbeville Dual Champions, and 11th Annual GA/SC Classic Champions; and

Whereas, under the able leadership of Coach Chris Strickland, the Crescent Boys have become one of the most powerful wrestling programs in South Carolina. Coach Strickland has an overall coaching record of 86-14 with a winning percentage of eighty-six percent. He was the 2005 Class AA-A State Coach of the Year as well as the 2005 North/South All-Star Coach; and

Whereas, this was Crescent's fourth consecutive trip to the wresting "final four" which ended with this talented group of young men, four of whom were individual All-State Wrestlers, attaining a final No. 1 team ranking; and

Whereas, the accomplishments of the Crescent Boys this season have brought much deserved credit not only upon each member of the team and their coaches but upon their school and community as well; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and honor the Crescent High School Boys Wrestling Team upon winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the Crescent High School Boys Wrestling Team for winning the 2006 Class AA-A State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the principal of Crescent High School.
