A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR ESSIE MOORE CARROLL OF BAMBERG COUNTY, FOR HER MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO DENMARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND TO THE EDUCATION OF THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize Mrs. Essie Moore Carroll who has dedicated her time and energy to the educational development of the citizens of South Carolina; and

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the achievements of Mrs. Carroll who selflessly worked towards making her community, as well as her State, a better place to live and learn; and

Whereas, it is also appropriate to commend Mrs. Carroll for continuously serving as a pillar of her community; and

Whereas, Essie Moore Carroll was born to the late Reverend and Mrs. Grant W. Moore in Spartanburg, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Essie Moore Carroll attended Spartanburg public schools; and

Whereas, Mrs. Carroll graduated from Claflin College in Orangeburg, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, South Carolina with a Master of Education Degree; and

Whereas, Essie Moore Carroll taught grades from the elementary level through the college level, in Spartanburg, Blackville, and Bamberg County public school systems for twenty-six years and at Vorhees College where she served as Director of Teacher Education and as an instructor; and

Whereas, Mrs. Carroll served as an original appointee to the Denmark Technical College Area Commission appointed by the Governor in 1983; and

Whereas, Essie Moore Carroll, has given twenty-two years of service to the Denmark Technical College Area Commission; and

Whereas, Mrs. Carroll has demonstrated unprecedented ability, care, prudence, and integrity in serving Denmark Technical College Area Commission as a member, Secretary, as Vice Chairwoman, and as Chairwoman; and

Whereas, the Essie Moore Carroll and Clarence V. Lebby, Sr. Learning Resources and Technology Center is named in part after Mrs. Essie Moore Carroll in honor of her many years of outstanding contributions to educating the students of Denmark Technical College and the citizens of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Essie Moore Carroll of Bamberg County, for her outstanding leadership and express their sincere appreciation for her selfless, dedicated service to Denmark Technical College and to the education of the citizens of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Mrs. Carroll.
