A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR DR. DONALD FARLEY ACKERMAN FOR HIS EXCEPTIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIELD OF EDUCATION DURING HIS FORTY-YEAR TENURE AS A TEACHER AND PRINCIPAL OF PINEVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN LEXINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO AND TO WISH HIM THE BEST IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the House of Representatives recognize those citizens who give tirelessly of themselves in educating and encouraging South Carolina's youth; and

Whereas, Dr. Donald Farley Ackerman is certainly one such individual, as he has inspired scores of students throughout his illustrious forty-year career with Lexington School District Two; and

Whereas, he taught social studies and physical education at Airport High for five years, was Assistant Principal at Busbee Middle School for three years, and has served with distinction as Principal of Pineview Elementary School for thirty-two years; and

Whereas, Dr. Ackerman is a strong instructional leader who always keeps up with the current trends in curriculum. He is a "servant administrator" who served the children first, the faculty and staff, and the community; and

Whereas, there is no doubt that Pineview Elementary has certainly benefited in having Dr. Ackerman at the helm for over three decades; and

Whereas, in addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Ackerman also has a number of hobbies which he enjoys, including golf, yard work, and school; and

Whereas, he is also the devoted husband to Frances and together they have two lovely daughters, Lisa and Kim, and they are the proud grandparents of two wonderful grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Isabel; and

Whereas, Dr. Ackerman is also an active member of Mount Hebron Methodist Church and the Pineview Ruritan Club; and

Whereas, beloved by students, faculty, and staff alike, Dr. Ackerman will be greatly missed at Pineview Elementary School. His dedication led Pineview Elementary School to achieve much success and is the recipient of numerous honors due to his tireless efforts; and

Whereas, all those who were fortunate enough to learn and work under the direction of Dr. Ackerman are certainly forever changed because of his influence, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to pause and thank him for his dedication and commitment to education in South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor Dr. Donald Farley Ackerman for his exceptional contributions to the field of education during his forty-year tenure as a teacher and Principal of Pineview Elementary School in Lexington School District Two and wish him the best in all his future endeavors upon the occasion of his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Donald Farley Ackerman.
