A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND SONYA SIMS OF CHESTERFIELD COUNTY UPON HER RECEIPT OF THE PAGELAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OUTSTANDING WOMAN IN BUSINESS AWARD AND TO APPLAUD HER FOR HER INNOVATION, DEDICATION, AND STRONG BUSINESS SENSE.

Whereas, in business, the old saying goes, "the customer is always right", and nobody understands that motto better than Sonya Sims; and

Whereas, five years ago, Sonya left a medical supply company to go into business for herself, creating Priority Health Care Equipment, where she currently manages twelve independent contractors and an office staff of six while maintaining governmental and insurance regulations; and

Whereas, unbeknownst to Sonya, the staffers at Priority Health Care Equipment submitted her name to be the recipient of Pageland's Outstanding Woman in Business after praising their boss for her innovation, dedication, and strong business sense; and

Whereas, entrepreneurship is in her blood as her father, uncle, and husband are all merchants; and

Whereas, Sonya attributes the success of her business to a strong staff focusing on daily operations, allowing her the opportunity to focus on growth; and

Whereas, she knows firsthand the difficulties of starting a new business and is thankful for her family, who helped support her and taught her the nuances of how to manage a business; and

Whereas, Sonya's business ambition is to double the size of Priority Health Care Equipment's customer base with in five years by offering more services and products; and

Whereas, Sonya Sims certainly deserves to reap all the benefits of a long-standing, successful business after working extremely hard, putting in incredibly long hours just to get the job done, and still managing to appreciate her staff enough that they would nominate her for Pageland's Outstanding Woman in Business Award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Sonya Sims of Chesterfield County upon her receipt of the Pageland Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Woman in Business Award and applaud her for her innovation, dedication, and strong business sense.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Sonya Sims.
