A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR OLIVIA "LIBBY" D. STILL, OF BARNWELL COUNTY, FOR HER OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION TO SOUTH CAROLINA PUBLIC EDUCATION AND FOOD SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER ALL THE BEST UPON HER RETIREMENT.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the House of Representatives recognizes South Carolinians who selflessly give of their time and energy in developing young minds in their communities; and

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the great achievements of those who work in South Carolina public schools and to encourage these individuals who continue to inspire children year after year; and

Whereas, Libby Still, Barnwell County School Food Service Director, truly deserves special recognition, as she has helped to shape countless lives during her long career in food service; and

Whereas, assuring that schoolchildren obtain necessary nutrients from school cafeteria food, Mrs. Still represented South Carolina in developing a School Recipe and Merchandising Manual which greatly assisted school food-service staff in effective merchandising techniques of well-prepared, quality foods; and

Whereas, Mrs. Still holds an AB degree in Accounting from Palmer College and a BS degree in Home Economic Education from Georgia Southern University. She is also a certified teacher in home economics; and

Whereas, her capable leadership on the South Carolina Food Service Association has led to many great milestones in public school food service; and

Whereas, in 1991, Clemson University Extension Service recognized Mrs. Still for her outstanding contribution to the improvement of home economics programs throughout Barnwell County; and

Whereas, Mrs. Still was instrumental in organizing the South Carolina School Food Service Purchasing Alliance and serves as a coordinator for food distribution for the South Carolina Emergency Preparedness Program during times of disaster and state emergency; and

Whereas, as Director of Barnwell County Food Service, she has tirelessly given of her time and talents, and her leadership led to the district obtaining six new state-of-the-art cafeterias; and

Whereas, Mrs. Still also serves as Director of the Summer Feeding Program, seeing to the delivery of lunches to fifty sites throughout Barnwell County; and

Whereas, a devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Still shares a loving marriage with her husband, Don B. Still, and together they have two wonderful children: Howard Still and Lee Anne Still Weeks. She is also proud to boast two lovely granddaughters: Emily Lynn Weeks and Anna Victoria Weeks; and

Whereas, a faithful member of Double Pond Baptist Church, she has chaired and served on numerous committees in furtherance of the church and its congregation; and

Whereas, Mrs. Still serves on the Executive Board of the Barnwell County Arts Council and the Blackville Historical Society, and is a member of the American School Nutrition Association, the Jasper County Historical Society, and the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials, among other memberships; and

Whereas, Mrs. Still remains as dedicated to students and to the furtherance of public education as she was when she began her career, and the students of the Barnwell County School District and the surrounding community are fortunate to have her in their lives. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Olivia "Libby" D. Still, of Barnwell County, for her outstanding commitment and dedication to South Carolina public education and food service, and wish her all the best upon her retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Olivia "Libby" D. Still.
