A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR REVEREND JAMES C. LANE, PASTOR OF SAND HILL AND CANAAN UNITED METHODIST CHURCHES IN DORCHESTER COUNTY, FOR HIS FAITHFUL SERVICE TO HIS CONGREGATIONS AND COMMITMENT TO HIS COMMUNITY.

Whereas, Reverend James C. Lane has spent the past eight years inspiring the congregations of Sand Hill and Canaan United Methodist Churches in Dorchester County with his unwavering faith, serving as a true confidant to those in need; and

Whereas, displaying exemplary leadership skills and a unique ability to motivate others to seek the furtherance of the church community, he has seen to the completion of the Canaan Family Life Center in 1999, the Sand Hill Family Life Center in 2002, and the new Sand Hill Sanctuary in 2003, in addition to relieving the mortgage burden of the Canaan Family Life Center in 2003; and

Whereas, an advocate for higher education, Reverend Lane has assisted many young adults in earning scholarships to South Carolina colleges and universities, thereby strengthening the Dorchester community as a whole; and

Whereas, constantly willing to put the needs of others before his own, this dedicated pastor is known for leaving his home at any time, day or night, to respond to a call from a congregant, more than willing to lend a supportive ear or a shoulder to cry on in times of crisis and heartbreak; and

Whereas, he never considers himself above rolling up his sleeves to get things done for the good of his churches, serving in numerous capacities in addition to his role as pastor, including trustee, sexton, and usher, in order to assure their smooth operation; and

Whereas, the nine hundred plus members of these churches are devoted to this wonderful minister of the United Methodist Church and are proud to stand with him in faithful service and obedience to God; and

Whereas, an extraordinary visionary, Reverend James C. Lane has led both churches to new heights, and it is with great pleasure that the members of the South Carolina Senate praise him for all the good that he has done in the lives of his individual congregants and the Dorchester community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Reverend James C. Lane, pastor of Sand Hill and Canaan United Methodist Churches, for his faithful service to his congregations and commitment to his community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend James C. Lane.
