TO EXPRESS THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF MRS. CAMILLE CUNNINGHAM SHARP OF ALLENDALE COUNTY AND TO EXTEND SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Mrs. Camille Cunningham Sharp of Allendale County died on January 16, 2005, at the age of eighty-four; and
Whereas, Mrs. Sharp was the daughter of the late Robert Bailey Cunningham and the late Camille Lawton Cunningham; and
Whereas, a 1941 graduate of Coker College, she was elected president of the Coker Student Christian Association; and
Whereas, she served as an adult Sunday School teacher, Bible School and Young People's leader at Allendale Presbyterian Church; and
Whereas, Mrs. Sharp was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, gardener, and partner in the family's successful business of Sharp and Sharp Certified Seed; and
Whereas, she was the owner of her beloved Roselawn, a home built in the nineteenth century, listed on the National Register, and one of the few plantation homes in Allendale County that survived the Civil War; and
Whereas, she was known for her love and dedication to her family, including her late husband, Don Carlos Sharp, Jr., her daughter, Camille Nairn, her son, Don Carlos Sharp III, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like Mrs. Sharp's family and many friends to know she is in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Mrs. Camille Cunningham Sharp of Allendale County and extend sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Camille Cunningham Sharp.
