A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND J. L. MANN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE CLASS AAA CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO WISH THE J. L. MANN GIRLS MUCH CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that the J. L. Mann High School Girls Basketball Team has won the State Class AAA Basketball Championship; and

Whereas, J. L. Mann defeated a fine North Charleston team 76-62 to win the first girls state championship in the school's history; and

Whereas, under the able leadership of Head Coach Darah Huffman and assistant coaches Toni Leopard, Lillie Young, and Janet Vicks, the J. L. Mann girls became a force to be reckoned with not only in the Upstate but throughout South Carolina; and

Whereas, their final win-loss record for the season was 23-3 and this is a good indicator of continued success for many more years to come; and

Whereas, the performance and conduct of this talented group of young women this year both on and off the court has brought deserved credit not only upon themselves and their school but upon their community as well; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, are desirous of publicly recognizing and honoring the J. L. Mann Girls Basketball Team for winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize and commend J. L. Mann High School Girls Basketball Team for winning the State Class AAA Championship and wish the J. L. Mann girls much continued success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Susan Hughes, Principal of J. L. Mann High School.
