TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-18-1505 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT WHEN A SCHOOL RECEIVES AN ABSOLUTE RATING OF BELOW AVERAGE OR UNSATISFACTORY ON ITS REPORT CARD FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS, THE SCHOOL SHALL REQUIRE THE STUDENTS TO WEAR UNIFORMS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 15, Chapter 18, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-18-1505. (A) When a school receives an absolute rating of below average or unsatisfactory on its report card for two consecutive years, the school shall require the students to wear uniforms. After the school receives an absolute rating of average, good, or excellent for two consecutive years, it may return to its previous dress code.
(B) Each school shall determine its own uniforms."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
