A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE TWENTY-TWO TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS NAMED TO SOUTH CAROLINA'S 2005 ALL-STATE ACADEMIC TEAM IN THE ALL-USA TEAM COMPETITION FOR TECHNICAL COLLEGES, COMMUNITY COLLEGES, AND JUNIOR COLLEGES.

Whereas, twenty-two outstanding and intelligent students were chosen to represent the State of South Carolina in the All-USA Academic Team Competition ; and

Whereas, these students were chosen for the All-State Team by the technical college presidents on the basis of academic performance, leadership accomplishments, and service to their colleges and local communities; and

Whereas, the All-State Academic Team Competition is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and the International Honor Society of the Two-Year Colleges to bring statewide recognition to outstanding technical college, community college, and junior college students; and

Whereas, the All-USA Academic Team Competition is sponsored nationally by Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges, and USA Today; and

Whereas, these students all have outstanding records making them worthy representatives of our State; and

Whereas, pride in their accomplishments can be shared, not only by the team members and their families, but by all South Carolinians; and

Whereas, it is appropriate that the members of the General Assembly pause in their deliberations so that they may add their voices to the choruses congratulating these outstanding students. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the twenty-two technical college students named to South Carolina's 2005 All-State Academic Team in the All-USA Team Competition for Technical Colleges, Community Colleges, and Junior Colleges.
