A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND WARREN LASCH FOR HIS ENTHUSIASM, COMMITMENT, AND WORK ETHIC ON THE RECOVERY, RESTORATION, AND DISPLAY OF THE H. L. HUNLEY AS HE RESIGNS FROM HIS POSITION AS CHAIRMAN OF THE FRIENDS OF THE HUNLEY, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, as Chairman of the Friends of the Hunley, Warren Lasch deserves accolades for the tremendous role he played in the recovery, restoration, and display of the H. L. Hunley; and

Whereas, Warren Lasch was born in Cleveland in 1946, where his father instilled in him a work ethic that would stay with him throughout his life; and

Whereas, after more than twenty years and a successful career in the vehicle transport businesses, Mr. Lasch moved his home to Kiawah Island, where he met Rear Admiral William Schachte, an appointee to the Hunley Commission; and

Whereas, when the Hunley Commission needed to raise sixteen million dollars for the excavation and restoration of the submarine, Mr. Lasch was the one chosen to run the nonprofit organization, Friends of the Hunley, to raise the money; and

Whereas, Warren Lasch's reach extended far beyond fund raising, as he came to run most of the Hunley operations and even donated 1.5 million dollars out of his own pocket to the cause; and

Whereas, working close to fifty hours a week for four years, Mr. Lasch's sharp business mind allowed the project to succeed beyond everyone's expectations; and

Whereas, Mr. Lasch is married to his high school sweetheart, Donna Davis, and they enjoy hosting their four children, seven grandchildren, and extended families at their home on Kiawah Island; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure and admiration for a job well done that the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina extol Warren Lasch as he resigns as Chairman of the Friends of the Hunley. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Warren Lasch for his enthusiasm, commitment, and work ethic on the recovery, restoration, and display of the H. L. Hunley as he resigns from his position as Chairman of the Friends of the Hunley, and wish him much success in his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Warren Lasch.
