To whom was referred a Bill (H. 4046) to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section 59-67-580 so as to provide that the State Board of Education shall implement, etc., respectfully

A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-67-580 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION SHALL IMPLEMENT A SCHOOL BUS REPLACEMENT CYCLE TO REPLACE APPROXIMATELY ONE-TWELFTH OF THE FLEET EACH YEAR, RESULTING IN A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE FLEET EVERY TWELVE YEARS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 1, Chapter 67, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-67-580.    With funds appropriated by the General Assembly, the State Board of Education shall implement a school bus replacement cycle to replace approximately one-twelfth of the fleet each year, resulting in a complete replacement of the fleet every twelve years."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
