A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

HONORING DR. LARRY K. RAYNES ON THE OCCASION OF HIS THIRTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF PLEASANT VIEW BAPTIST CHURCH IN TAYLORS, AND EXPRESSING GRATITUDE FOR HIS SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP IN HIS CHURCH, HIS COMMUNITY, AND THIS STATE.

Whereas, January 27, 2006, marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Dr. Larry K. Raynes as pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Taylors; and

Whereas, Dr. Raynes has filled that pulpit with righteousness, serving the community of Taylors and the State of South Carolina in myriad ways; and

Whereas, his spiritual leadership has resulted in greatly enhanced contributions to foreign and home mission projects, initiation of a camp-meeting ministry to encourage pastors, founding of a highly acclaimed K-12 Christian education ministry, and establishment of a residence facility offering behavioral and academic intervention to young boys; and

Whereas, Pastor Raynes has also touched the lives of more than twenty families who now serve full time in missions, evangelism, and the pastorate in the United States and abroad; and

Whereas, being fully aware of and thankful for the role of religious faith in the establishment of our beloved country, Dr. Raynes is a model for his congregation in daily prayer for our elected officials as they exercise the awesome power and trust they assume; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the leadership of this State to express their gratitude for the spiritual contribtutions of Dr. Larry K. Raynes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly honor Dr. Larry K. Raynes on the occasion of his thirty-fifth anniversary as pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Taylors, and express gratitude for his spiritual leadership in his church, his community, and this State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Larry K. Raynes.
