TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE LEADERSHIP GREENVILLE STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, PARTICIPANTS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AND ALSO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE GREATER GREENVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND ENCOURAGE THE CONTINUING ACHIEVEMENTS OF THIS OUTSTANDING PROGRAM IN THE FUTURE.
Whereas, Leadership Greenville is a program sponsored by the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce; and
Whereas, Leadership Greenville is charged with developing informed, committed, and qualified individuals capable of providing dynamic leadership for Greenville County; and
Whereas, Leadership Greenville is in its thirty-second year of existence; and
Whereas, Leadership Greenville builds a network of community leaders through education and involvement while addressing the concerns and issues of Greenville County; and
Whereas, Leadership Greenville has an exemplary list of alumni, including United States Senator Jim DeMint, U. S. Representative Bob Inglis, State Senator David Thomas, State Representative Bruce Bannister, Greenville County Councilman Jim Burns, Greenville County Councilman Scott Case, Greenville County Treasurer Jill Kintigh, Greenville County Clerk of Court Paul B. Wickensimer, Greenville City Councilwoman Chandra Dillard, Greenville City Councilwoman Michelle Shain, Greenville City Councilwoman Deb Sofield, S. C. Department of Transportation Commissioner Tee Hooper, and University of South Carolina Board of Trustees Chairman Mack Whittle; and
Whereas, Leadership Greenville's past community projects have included such worthy projects as drafting the Reedy River Corridor plan, developing the Heritage Green Corridor plan, constructing the Paris Mountain revitalization plan, designing and constructing a children's garden at Linky Stone Park, and this year planning a dog park in Cleveland Park and upgrading the Nicholtown Community Center computer lab; and
Whereas, this year's class participants in Leadership Greenville Class XXXII are the following individuals: David R. Arning, John D. Barker, Emma M. Barksdale, Michael A. Benzie, Scott G. Brand, Peter M. Brett, Randall D. Britton, Dennis M. Brown, Brian P. Clark, Brian T. Connaughton, Mark H. Cooter, Joan P. Dilworth, William H. H. Ellis, Jr., Candy L. Eslinger, Patricia Marby Harrison, Maya H. Herren, Mary H. Hipp, Scott R. Jones, Brenda B. Kuhfuss, Sandra L. Miller, Jilvonnie M. Littlejohn, Michael J. Martinez, C. Stewart Mauney, Ronald O. Whereas, the Leadership Greenville staff and leadership include the following dedicated individuals: Steven R. Brandt, Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce 2006 Chairman of the Board; J. Scott Davis, 2006 Chairman, Leadership Development Board of Regents; Gable D. Stubbs, 2005 Chairman, Leadership Development Board of Regents; F. Ben Haskew, Jr., President and CEO, Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce; Sandi Coan, Executive Director, Leadership Development; and J. Elizabeth Street, Administrative Assistant, Leadership Development; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to recognize the rich history of the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Greenville Program, to acknowledge the program's noteworthy contribution to the community and the State, and to wish the program continued success as it certainly provides the framework for tomorrow's leaders. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the remarkable achievements of the Leadership Greenville staff, volunteers, participants, board of directors, and also the board of directors of the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce and encourage the continuing achievements of this outstanding program in the future.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Board of Directors of the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce.
