A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND ON CAPTURING THE 2005 SOUTH CAROLINA AAAA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP, AND HONOR THE BAND MEMBERS AND DIRECTOR OF BANDS MARTIN DICKEY FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.

Whereas, the Fort Mill High School Marching Band capped the 2005 marching season by capturing the AAAA State Marching Band Championship title in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; and

Whereas, this victory marked a very successful year for the Fort Mill High School Marching Band which also was named South Carolina Upper State AAAA Marching Band champion; and

Whereas, this winning season and State championship award were truly a team effort that combined the hard work of the band members and directors, with countless hours of support by parents and band boosters; and

Whereas, Director of Bands Martin Dickey and his staff instilled dedication in the band members which was evident from early season practice until the last moments of competition; and

Whereas, the performance in the state championship competition and the example set by the 2005 edition of Fort Mill Marching Band, has the band poised for a return to glory. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Fort Mill High School Marching Band on capturing the 2005 South Carolina AAAA State Marching Band Championship, and honor the band members and Director of Bands, Martin Dickey for their hard work and dedication.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Fort Mill High School Director of Bands, Martin Dickey.
