A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR BARRY PITTS OF AIKEN COUNTY FOR HIS OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION TO THE EDUCATION OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S YOUTH, AND TO WISH HIM ALL THE BEST UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize South Carolinians who selflessly give their time and energy in developing young minds in their communities; and

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the great achievements of those who teach and to encourage these individuals who continue to inspire children year after year; and

Whereas, Barry Pitts, principal of Leavelle McCampbell Middle School in Aiken County, certainly deserves special recognition as he has helped to shape countless young lives throughout his career in education; and

Whereas, a graduate of the University of South Carolina, Mr. Pitts earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Arts and Sciences; and

Whereas, Mr. Pitts later went on to receive a Master of Education degree in Administration from the College of Education at the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, encouraging and inspiring his students for twenty years as a teacher and coach, Mr. Pitts taught math and science at Midland Valley High School and other area schools. He then became assistant principal of Midland Valley High School, and served in that capacity for eight years; and

Whereas, believing in this dedication to the maximization of education for all students, the faculty and staff of Leavelle McCampbell Middle School welcomed Mr. Pitts as principal of their school in 1998; and

Whereas, in his eight years as principal, Mr. Pitts has done an exceptional job in leading Leavelle McCampbell Middle School to countless successes and will leave the school and his career in education with great pride and honor; and

Whereas, Mr. Pitts remains as dedicated to his students and to the furtherance of public education as he was when he began his career as an educator, and the students of Leavelle McCampbell Middle School and the surrounding Aiken community are fortunate to have called him their own. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Barry Pitts of Aiken County for his outstanding commitment and dedication to the education of South Carolina's youth and wish him all the best upon the occasion of his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Barry Pitts of Aiken County.
