TO CONGRATULATE THE RIVERSIDE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER TEAM OF GREENVILLE ON WINNING THE CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, TERRY ARCHENHOLD, ON AN EXCELLENT SEASON.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were pleased to learn that the Riverside High School girls soccer team won the Class AAA State Championship by defeating a fine Brookland Cayce High School team 2-1 in the championship game; and
Whereas, the Lady Warriors demonstrated their speed, agility, and amazing athletic ability as well as their all-around knowledge of the game all season long behind the direction and support of Head Coach Terry Archenhold and Assistant Coach April Raymond; and
Whereas, Riverside was lead in the championship game by sophomore Sarah Jacobs, who scored both goals for the Lady Warriors. Junior Sarah Delap had seven saves, and sophomore Lydia Calvage and senior Robin Putnam each added an assist; and
Whereas, the success of the Lady Warriors this season continues the strong athletic tradition of Riverside High School which has become a force to be reckoned with in the Upstate and in all of South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the 2006 Riverside High School State Championship team included: Sarah Delap, Jennifer Graves, Renee Ballew, Megan Cassity, Lindsay Patterson, Robin Putnam, Suzanne Thomas, Kaitlyn Costanzo, Lydia Calvage, Sarah Jacobs, Katie Flanagan, Catherine Blackwell, Anne Austin, Haley Templer, Kristen Dixon, Julia Hodge, Jamie Templer and Jessica Humphries; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this talented group of young athletes upon the occasion of their winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Riverside High School girls soccer team of Greenville on winning the Class AAA State Championship and honor the players and their coach, Terry Archenhold, on an excellent season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution by forwarded to the principal of Riverside High School.
