A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MR. WILLIE "ED" LITTLE, OF LAURENS COUNTY, FOR TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS TEACHER, COACH, AND PRINCIPAL, AND TO HONOR HIM FOR THE LASTING POSITIVE IMPACT HE HAS HAD ON THE CITIZENS OF HIS COUNTY, THE CITY OF CLINTON, AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Mr. Willie "Ed" Little devoted twenty-seven years to serving the citizens of Laurens County as a dedicated and exceptional teacher, coach, and principal from 1956 to 1983; and

Whereas, having been raised in Laurens County and having graduated from Sanders High School, he knows well the community he served so faithfully throughout the years; and

Whereas, after playing football for Benedict College and graduating from this institution in 1951, Mr. Willie "Ed" Little began his teaching career in 1956 at Bell Street High School, serving as head coach from 1956 to 1969; and

Whereas, he also served as teacher and assistant coach at Clinton High School, after which he became principal of Bell Street Middle School, leaving, upon his retirement in 1983, a profoundly encouraging and affirmatory mark upon the multitudes of students he taught, coached, and mentored; and

Whereas, a man of integrity and conscience, Coach Little has always given of his time and talents for the betterment of South Carolina's students, as was exemplified during the Civil Rights era when he was instrumental in assisting with the integration of the Clinton schools; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to have this opportunity to thank Coach Little for his legacy to the people of South Carolina and to wish this outstanding native son all the best joys of life in years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Mr. Willie "Ed" Little, of Laurens County, for twenty-seven years of dedicated service as teacher, coach, and principal, and honor him for the lasting positive impact he has had on the citizens of his county, the City of Clinton, and the State of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Willie "Ed" Little.
