A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE CHERAW HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND ON CAPTURING THE 2006 CLASS AA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the Cheraw High School marching band captured the 2006 Class AA State Marching Band Championship title; and

Whereas, this 2006 championship marks the first such win for the Cheraw High School Marching Tribe, a worthy addition to its lengthy roster of accomplishments, such as grabbing the South Carolina Band Directors Association Outstanding Performance Award thirteen years running; and

Whereas, the achievements of the Cheraw High School marching band show that Band Director John Pruitt and his assistant director, Patrick Davis, are among the finest band directors in South Carolina; and

Whereas, in addition, the able and indispensable assistance of Color Guard Instructor Michelle Woodward and Front Ensemble Instructor John Smith helped make the championship win possible; and

Whereas, the parents, band boosters, school administrators, and officials of Chesterfield County School District have provided the instruction, support, and encouragement necessary to attain such a high level of achievement; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pleasure in according special recognition to such an outstanding group of young musicians. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Cheraw High School marching band on capturing the 2006 Class AA State Marching Band Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the principal of Cheraw High School, Dr. Henry Cobb, and Band Director John Pruitt.
