A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. ANNIE F. GADSON, OF RICHLAND COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Annie F. Gadson on February 5, 2007, at the venerable age of 103; and

Whereas, born in Barnwell, she was the daughter of the late James Morgan and Dora Hammond and the widow of Eddie Gadson; and

Whereas, Mrs. Gadson was for many years a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Bamberg, where she organized and served as president of the Senior Choir, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Household of Ruth; and

Whereas, for fifty years she was a member of the Pride of Barnwell #77 Order of Eastern Star; and

Whereas, she is survived by her loving grandchildren, Bernice "Cookie" (Rev. Ricky) Ezell, Ann (Cedrick) Bowen, Rev. Eulia C. (Joann) Gadson, James E. Gadson, and Rev. Anthony F. Gadson, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces; and

Whereas, although they rejoice at her homegoing to be with the Lord, all who knew and loved her will miss her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mrs. Annie F. Gadson, of Richland County, and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Bernice "Cookie" Ezell on behalf of the family.
