VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2007 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.
Whereas, the Pinewood Preparatory School basketball team defeated Hammond School 59-53 on Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Sumter Convention Center, to capture the 2007 South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship title; and
Whereas, Head Coach Pat Eidson and Assistant Coaches Tony Bulford, Ray Murray, and Jim Hart, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their basketball program into a championship team; and
Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent 27-4 season for the Panthers and marks the second straight year these players have come out on top as state champions and their fifth championship overall; and
Whereas, the team was further honored in the selection of standouts Milton Jennings and Ryan Steed to the All-Tournament Team; and
Whereas, the Panthers have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Pinewood Preparatory School basketball team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2007 South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Pinewood Preparatory School, Dr. Glyn Cowlishaw, and Head Coach Pat Eidson.
