A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE SPARTANBURG CHRISTIAN ACADEMY BATTLE OF THE BRAINS TEAM ON ITS OUTSTANDING WIN OF THE 2007 BATTLE OF THE BRAINS COMPETITION, AND TO WISH ITS MEMBERS ALL THE BEST IN FUTURE COMPETITIONS.

Whereas, the Spartanburg Christian Academy Battle of the Brains Team has brought great pride and acclaim to the Spartanburg community in defeating thirty-one teams to win the Battle of the Brains Competition held at the Spartanburg Arts Center; and

Whereas, the team tenaciously competed against an army of scholars from schools in Spartanburg, Cherokee, Greenville, Laurens, and Union Counties; and

Whereas, the 2007 competition marks the second year within the last three years that Spartanburg Christian Academy has reached the Elite Eight; and

Whereas, earning a five hundred dollar prize in prior rounds of competition, the Battle of the Brains team took home the ultimate cash reward of one thousand dollars; and

Whereas, members of the Spartanburg Christian Academy Battle of the Brains Team include Jade Kelley, Tucker Meyers, Emily Moore, Alexis Zwilling, and Adam Painter; and

Whereas, thriving under the leadership of the team's sponsor, Ed Dickerson, and its student advisor, David Petty, team members showed both fans and foes that they were a force to be reckoned with, and will truly be the team to beat in future competition; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pride in commending the young men and women of the Spartanburg Christian Academy Battle of the Brains Team for their tireless efforts and great determination in this banner year and recognize them for this wonderful accomplishment. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Spartanburg Christian Academy Battle of the Brains Team on its outstanding win of the 2007 Battle of the Brains Competition, and wish its members all the best in future competitions.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the administration, coaches, and students of the Spartanburg Christian Academy Battle of the Brains Team.
